Canmore Minor Hockey is hosting Level 1 and Level 2 Officials Clinics at the Canmore Recreation Centre on:
Saturday, September 27, 2025
Saturday, October 4, 2025
If you are interested in becoming a referee this season, please read all of the information carefully. These clinics fill up fast and once full, there is usually little to no movement—so don’t delay!
All referees must complete a clinic each season. Without it, your certification will expire in December of the current year.
If you’re not already registered to play or coach minor hockey, be sure to add the “Hockey Canada Insurance” option during registration—it’s mandatory and will save you time later.
Referee pay rates can be found on the Hockey Alberta website. Rates are generally split between two officials, unless a three or four-person system is assigned. Last year, CMHA paid our officials 100% of the rates.
Refereeing is a flexible way to earn some extra cash while staying active and involved in the game!
Once you (or your player) complete the course, you’ll need to set up a RAMP Assigning profile if you don’t already have one.
Each official must have their own account. This platform is used to assign and communicate game information.
We recommend adding a parent email if the referee is not an active email user. CMHA pays officials via direct deposit, so we will require banking information from all referees. Details on how to submit this securely will be shared closer to the start of the season.
RAMP Assigning - How to Create Your Profile
All officials must complete an online course prior to attending the in-person clinic.
Details are available through Hockey Alberta’s resources:
The required course depends on the official’s certification level.
Be sure to register using the correct link for the clinic date and level:

If you need a refund, please reach out to:centralclinics@hockeyalberta.ca (if your player needs to register for a different course, register for that first, then request the refund)
We’d love to see some of our older players explore the world of officiating.
We are also in need of adult officials and older referees (ages 15+) who can officiate U15 and U18 games in the Bow Valley—please share this opportunity with anyone who may be interested!
