On January 7, Premier Jason Kenney announced that, despite confirming that in-person learning in schools throughout the province will return on January 11, mandatory health measures effective December 13 will remain in effect across the province until at least January 21.
"Like all of us, we know that our players are hoping for an optimistic view and a fresh start in 2021. 2020 was possibly one of the toughest years these kids have ever faced and hockey provides a level of comfort, excitement, stability and opportunity that our players are truly yearning for now more than ever as a result. We understand this is a tough blow to all minor hockey players, families, enthusiasts, volunteers, supporters and friends in a year where, more than ever, we are hoping to offer our kids some normalcy and joy, and we want to let our minor hockey community know that we are working hard to ensure we can restore this season as soon as the province gives us the go-ahead to do so". Michael Hay - C.M.H.A. Board President
We continue to work with Alberta Health Services, Hockey Alberta and the Towns of Canmore and Banff to restart our season as soon as absolutely possible and will continue to share information with you as it is received and as planning proceeds.
In the interim, we encourage you/your player(s) to stay active, stay healthy and stay on the ice!! We are fortunate that there is an abundance of natural outdoor ice surfaces located close by - we hope you are using them as often as possible - safely, respectfully and responsibly!
We look forward to seeing you at the rink soon!
