Hockey Alberta Announces Conclusion of League Play for 2021

Feb. 02, 2021

On February 2, 2021, the CMHA Board of Directors were informed that Hockey Alberta, in conjunction with its Leagues, has made the difficult decision to conclude regular league play for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.

For CMHA, this affects our CAHL, RHL and RMFHL teams.

While league play may be concluded for this season, please know we continue to work diligently and closely with Hockey Alberta, the Town of Canmore, Alberta Health Services and our regional communities to ensure that if we are afforded the opportunity to return to play this season in any format, we will explore that opportunity diligently with input and feedback from our membership. Under the provincial Path Forward four-step plan (announced on January 29) which comes into effect on February 8, the earliest hockey activities in any format could return would be March 1.

We understand this is a frustrating and challenging time for us all.

Right now, the best thing we can do is to work together to continue to follow current public health measures in place and hope that in doing so collectively as a province, we can reach the provincial benchmarks required to get back on the ice as soon as possible.

We will continue to share updates as they become available.

With thanks,

The CMHA Board of Directors
