Notice of Annual General Meeting

The Canmore Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) Annual General Meeting (AGM), will take place on Wednesday, May 7th, at 7:00 PM at the Canmore Legion.

We encourage all members to attend. This meeting provides a great opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about the upcoming season and to get involved in the future direction of the organization.

 

Board Nominations

The following positions are open for nomination for the upcoming season:

  • Vice President (Two-Year Term)

  • Secretary (Two-Year Term)

  • CAHL Director

  • RHL Director
  • Female Director
  • CAHL Governor
  • CAHL Governor
  • Development Director
  • Communications Director
  • Volunteer Director

 

Please review the CMHA Board Roles for more details on each position, and the associated responsibilities, and time commitment involved.

 

If you would like to nominate a candidate for any of the open board positions, please complete and submit the Nomination Form.

 

New Voting Procedure - Please Read

As many of you are aware, CMHA recently passed a bylaw that will allow members to vote online for the board election at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Usually, only a small percentage of the membership is able to attend the AGM in person, so this change is designed to allow a greater percentage of the membership the ability to vote and have their say.
 
Here is how it will work:
 
  • Every parent with a child in minor hockey will be eligible to vote. By “parent” we mean any adult that is considered a guardian for one or more children in Canmore Minor Hockey. This may include step-parents, grand-parents, foster parents, etc… However, we must have that parent’s email registered with CMHA in order to email them the link to vote. So, if a guardian of your child that you believe is eligible to vote has not received this email you are reading now, it means we don’t have their email address in our system. In this case, we ask that you please send us the name and email of this person.

  • In advance of the AGM, we will send out the list of names of people who have been nominated for the various board positions. While we will take nominations up until the vote is executed, we strongly encourage all nominations to be sent to us, using the nomination form, well in advance of the AGM. 

  • At the start of the AGM, which should be approximately 7 pm on May 7, we will open the voting. This will send an email to every member with a link to carry out the vote.

  • People who are present in person at the AGM will still be required to vote online. So it's important that those attending have a device that they can use to access their email and carry out the vote.

  • Approximately one hour later (around 8 pm) we will close the voting, and announce the results of the board election.

 

 

Please note that the AGM package including the agenda and financials will be sent closer to the time.
