Official Clinics - 2024

Canmore Minor Hockey is hosting Levels 1 and 2 Officials clinics on September 28th and October 5th at the Canmore Recreation Centre. If you are interested in being an official this season, please read, carefully, through ALL of the information below. Don't delay, as these clinics fill quickly and once they are full, there is usually little to no movement.

  1. Referees must complete a clinic each season, or their status as a certified official expires in December of the current year.

  2. All officials 19 years and older need to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) to register for the clinic. Only CRC’s done through www.backcheck.net/hockeyalberta will be accepted. Each CRC is good for three years, unless otherwise notified.

  3. If you’re not registered to play minor hockey or coach, make sure you add the “Hockey Canada Insurance” option, as it is mandatory to have and will save you a time later.

  4. Rates for referees can be reviewed on the Hockey Alberta website and all rates are split between 2 officials unless a three-man system is assigned. Being a referee is a very flexible way to generate a little bonus cash, plus it's fun and gets you out on the ice!

  5. Once you or your player has completed the course, you will need to set up a RAMP Assigning profile if you don’t already have one. Each official must have their own account. To sign up, please follow this link. This platform is used to communicate and assign games each season. We recommend that at least one parent email be listed on the account, in the event that the referee is not an avid email user.

Prior to registering for the clinic: Read through Hockey Alberta's "Become an Official or Return". And please ensure you use the appropriate link below for your age when registering for the clinic. If you are taking the course for the first time, you will need to complete the online portion prior to the clinic. Here is the link to complete HC Intro to Officiating

We would love to see some of our older players discover the world of officiating. And we would also appreciate that you spread the word to members in our community as we have a shortage of adult referees here in the Bow Valley, or older refs that are capable of reffing U15 and U18 games.
